Welcome to TCSA - Empowering Trade & Customs Standards

What We Do
Founded in 1999, the Trade & Customs Standards Association (TCSA) is a not-for-profit membership organisationfor companies that move goods across the UK border. Our purpose is simple: we connect members with one another, represent their interests with HMRC, provide free expert consultation, and give members a visible way to signal legitimacy to buyers and partners.
TCSA is a community first. We make curated introductions between members and prospective partners—think broker to retailer, forwarder to manufacturer, operator to specialist—so the right conversations happen without cold outreach. Through sector roundtables and practical clinics, members share what works on Transit, IP/OP, e-commerce (IOSS/DDP), origin and classification, and wider compliance, turning experience into repeatable playbooks.
We also act as a constructive, independent voice to government. TCSA collates member issues and proposals and represents them to HMRC through established points of contact and relevant consultations and working streams. When procedures or timelines change, we brief members quickly and in plain English. We are fully independent and do not claim government endorsement.
Every member receives practical help as part of their subscription. On joining, we offer a free 1:1 consultation to review your standards, highlight risk hotspots, and identify quick wins. Ongoing access to reviewers for light-touch queries is included, along with audit-ready templates—authority letters, SOP and SLA packs, ROO evidence logs, sanctions/KYC policy, complaint handling, and a data-protection baseline—so you can raise standards without starting from scratch.
Membership also makes credibility visible. You can use the “Member of TCSA” badge immediately, and progress to an audited, click-to-verify trustmark that shows live status, scope, and last audit date. Retailers can opt into TCSA Shopper Assured or the higher-bar Shopper Guaranteed to reduce “fee-at-the-door” surprises on DDP orders and boost checkout confidence. Where helpful, we provide a Letter of Good Standing for tenders and procurement packs.
If your organisation believes that credible standards, practical advice and a unified voice with HMRC help good operators stand out, you’ll fit right in. Join TCSA today or book a free 15-minute consultation to see how membership would work for you.
